DCM(b 1922 Wamphrey Dumfriesshire father John Murdoch mother Agnes nee
Dirom)(married Doris(Linda)Sartoria. Berwick on Tweed 1947) late King's Own
Scottish Borderers saw combat North West Frontier(India/Afghanistan), Burma,
Europe(Airborne), Korea(awarded DCM),Malaya(mentioned in dispatches). Made
a MBE in 1962 after further service in West Africa,South Arabia and Berlin.
Son Ian Murdoch and grandson Christopher Murdoch also served in the
Regiment(maybe great grandson Cameron will too!). |

Hi to all of the Murdochs out there.
All of my family is gone and I am trying to trace my heritage. My grandfather
John Hamilton Murdoch married Francis "Fannie" Dennison. They moved to New
York late 1800's or early 1900's as my father, John Hamilton Murdoch Jr.
was born in New York in 1910. His brother James Hamilton Murdoch was born
around 1917. I'm sure I still have relatives in Scotland. I understand my
family came from Glasgow and I seem to recall hearing "East Park" mentioned.
Can somebody please help me. I want to come to Scotland in the future and
learn all that I can. Thank you! |

I am working on a quilt that will
contain the tartans of the Clans of Scotland. Upon completion it will be
shown at scottish events & gatherings throughout the USA. I have received
68 different donations from various clans but sadly do not have the tartan
of the Clan Murdoch as of yet to represent them in this project. I only need
a 4"x4"(or larger)piece of tartan fabric such as leftover from making a kilt,etc.

I was wondering if anyone had any
information or knew about a lady named Emma Murdoch. She was born in Plympton,
St Mary, England. (who worked as a servant) She was a free settler that travelled
to Tasmania, Australia and married a William Reason who was born in Ware,
Herfordshire, England and was a brickmaker. They had seven children and William
died in Richmond, Tasmania, Australia in 1878. Emma died in New Norfolk,
Tasmania, Australia in 1909. |

GGrFather Robert Murdoch emmigrated
to US in 1902 at the age of two with mother, father (Frank), brother John,
and twin sister Mary (who died on voyage over of cholera). They entered through
Canada and eventually settled in the Lewiston/Niagara Falls, NY area. John
was later deported back to Scotland for reasons unknown to the remaining
family (speculation of bootlegged Canadian whiskey during Prohibition). Sound

I recently moved to Augusta Mo
and discovered an old graveyard that was afamily plot for pioneer family
named Murdoch, buried there in the early to late 1800's were Alexander, James
